The Dunlop summer tyres that were supplied with the car (10reg) were terrible in the ice and snow, gently trying to pull out of street just led to wheel spin. Sick of having the car pushed on any icy/snowy incline, I took the plunge and invested in 4 Falken Eurowinters. The difference is like night and day, I can drive in the outside lane of dual carriages were other dare to tread. Although the car looks like a 4WD it's in fact 2WD but given me the confidence to drive anywhere this winter. Although as mentioned by others, they do not make you invincible! Best 400 quid I've spent!

I bought these because the Michelin summer tyres fitted from new (2010 plate) were shocking in winter. These tyres offered a massive improvement. EG - The drive way of my home is on a steep slope and with summer tyres on I don't even bother trying to park on it when it is icey or snow covered. However with thes tyres on it's no problem at all. It's worth noting that I didn't see any significant change in road noise, fuel economy or handling in non-winter conditions when compared to the summer tyres. Hence good all round tyres, I used them to -18C and 6 to 8" of snow. When driving appropriately for the road conditions these tyres will perform excellently.... It is hard to see how people can fault these tyres unless they suddenly think you are going to become a winter racing specialist because they've got winter tyres on....in which case they should do us all a favour, stay at home and not drive during winter.
